Cascade 1 focuses on the in-between moments where colours meet and play off one another. They blend at the edges without losing their own identity, creating unexpected tones where they overlap. There’s a sense of movement across the surface, as if each layer is aware of the one beneath it. Together, these shifting relationships reflect a way of seeing the world that’s always changing, yet still shaped by everything that came before.

My art practice moves fluidly between abstraction and representation. In this work, I explore the enduring beauty of Singapore’s streets and shophouses—architectural forms that are deeply woven into the nation’s cultural memory. These spaces, both lived-in and historical, embody much of what makes Singapore visually and emotionally resonant.

Mrida—derived from Sanskrit—means soil, earth, or clay. More than the ground beneath our feet, it embodies one of the five great elements: foundation, fertility, and the silent witness to time’s passage.

The Mrida Series is an abstract exploration of earth in its many forms—soil, clay, and stone. When observed closely, the ground reveals a spectrum of colors and textures, from subtle to striking. A visit to Mumbai, where deep volcanic soil made surrounding greens glow almost fluorescent, inspired this reflection on the overlooked beauty of earth’s shades.

Coastal Colours 4

Coastal Colours is a series of abstract paintings that captures the essence of a serene seashore where the sea, sand, and sky converge. This artwork embodies both dynamism and tranquility, reflecting the ever-changing yet calming nature of the ocean. I am deeply drawn to the ocean, finding inspiration in everything about it—the crashing waves, the soft sand, and the shifting hues of the sea across different times of day and seasons. This painting is my attempt to encapsulate a single fleeting moment from the infinite beauty and inspiration the ocean offers.
